I love to wear sweater dresses to formal events during the cold weather as well as to the office when I want to dress up. With the wide variety of sweater dresses out there, you’re bound to find one to your liking.
It’s easy to create a chic look in the winter or fall season by pairing your favorite sweater dress with a pair of tights and knee boots. This is an easy look you could wear for a fancy occasion or as office wear. It’s just one of those items that looks great on all body types thanks to the different styles and lengths it comes in.
When it comes to creating a stylish look with a sweater dress, boots are the best shoes to pair with it. Depending on the length of your dress, you could opt for ankle boots, knee-high boots or even over-the-knee boots. In today’s blog post, I would be sharing some of my favorite ways to ways to pair a sweater dress with different types of boots.

Lulus offers a nice selection of cozy sweater dresses in beautiful colors and prints. Most of them have really great reviews and come in under $70, which is really good price for a comfortable and flattering sweater dress. THIS maxi sweater dress comes in a beautiful shade of green. Nordstrom is a great site to check out if you’re looking for a sweater dress in a solid color. They also carry a wide range of sweater dresses but I would pay attention to the reviews if you’re concerned about fit. Switch up your LBD style on cold days by opting for a form-fitting black sweater dress such as THIS ONE. Due to its length, a pair of ankle booties would be a great option.
iii) Amazon
If you are looking for the perfect sweater dress to wear for date night, you need to check Amazon out. I also read the reviews and choose items that have at least 4 Stars. THIS midi dress is a great choice for date night during the winter. It comes in different colors so you’re sure to find one to your liking. You could opt for a pair of boots with a stiletto heel to really turn things up a notch.
iv) Lululemon
You may be surprised to see Lululemon on this list. Although they may have the fewest number of options for sweater dresses, what they do offer are comfortable and stylish options. They offer a number of sweater dresses with long sleeves and featuring merino wool, which means your guaranteed warmth.
An easy way to wear THIS mini sweater dress during the colder months would be to add a pair of black tights or leggings and a pair of knee-high boots.
v) Shein
Shein sweater dresses prove that you can still look stylish during the winter months. They offer both shorter and longer sweater dresses in many colors and prints. THIS ribbed knit white sweater dress is a statement maker you could wear to a formal event. Pair it with white ankle boots to create a chic monochromatic look in the winter.

1) With a trench coat
Make your sweater dress outfit more professional by adding a trench coat on top. A longer sweater dress is the best option but a shorter one would work as well. Choose a pair of tall boots and a pair of black leggings for extra warmth and a more professional look. Black boots are a classic that would go with any color of sweater dress.

2) With thigh high boots
A great way to style a sweater dress on the shorter side is with over the knee boots. Choose a sweater dress in a bold color and a pair of OTK boots in a complimentary color to make your outfit stand out. Achieve the perfect look by option for chunky knit in a beautiful fall color and a pair of over-the-knee-boots in a neutral color.

3) With ankle boots
Ankle boots are the right shoes to wear with maxi and midi sweater dresses. This is because the top of the boot usually hits right where the dress ends or just a few cm below. The beauty of your favorite shoes gets to be on full display as a result; something a taller boot may not allow.
Generally speaking, the longer the sweater dress, the longer your outerwear. A long coat would work best with a midi sweater dress however a denim jacket could be worn for a more casual look. Consider choosing a pair of plain black ankle boots if you’re going for a casual vibe.

4) With knee boots
If you’re fortunate enough to have boots that go past your calves, then you’ve got to try out this style. The great thing about knee boots is that they work with different lengths of sweater dresses. This is because they’re sort of in-between heights; not too tall, not too short.
If you’re wearing a shorter dress insecure about your thighs, opt for a loose-fitting sweater dress to take attention away from your thighs.
Feel free to try different heel types such as block heels for a trendy and cute look. Complete your outfit with long wool coat or with a trench coat for an office look.

5) With mid calf boots
I feel like mid calf boots are like the middle child we always forget about. They don’t get enough shine thanks to popularity of the other types of boots. Mid calf boots and ankle boots can be worn with similar styles of sweater dresses.
You could choose a pair of taller Chelsea boots to achieve a dressier look with your sweater dress. Complete your look with a long leather jacket or any other long coat.
