7 Outfit Ideas to Wear on A Blind Date

Blind dates can be either really exciting or really nerve-wrecking. There does not seem to be any between. I have personally never been on a blind date, however I know some folks who have been on one. Meeting someone for the first time is already scary enough, now meeting someone you may show romantic interest in makes the stakes even higher.

The last thing you want to worry about the first time you’re meeting someone is a wardrobe malfunction. That’s where I come in. In today’s blog post, I would be sharing some great outfit ideas you should consider if you want to make a good first impression on a blind date.

You don’t want your date getting the wrong message but at the same time you want to show your personal style.Post ImageThese different outfits would accommodate the various seasons as well as different styles of dressing. I would also be providing options that are good for daytime dates as well as evening dates. If you’re meeting a complete stranger for the first time, one whom you’ve never even video-chatted with, I recommend a daytime date. A coffee date is ideal as it’s in a public place and less formal than an evening date.

In general, it’s advisable to keep your first-date outfit less dramatic. This is because you may not be familiar with the restaurant/meeting point and don’t want to feel restricted. Secondly, you want to be comfortable, not focused on whether something may spill out. Lastly, you want to be seen for you – not a character version of yourself or who you think your date may like.Post Image

What to Wear on a Blind Date

1) Jeans + blazer

This is a smart casual look you can easily pull off. Choose your favorite pair of jeans to feel your best. Adding a blazer to this outfit makes sure it can go from daytime date to date night. A pair of lightwash jeans creates a more casual look while dark denim would make your outfit slightly more formal.

Wear a simple blouse or tank top underneath your blazer to complete your blind date outfit. Show off your personality by choosing a top in a bright color. If you’re more of a minimalist, tops in neutral colors work perfect fly fine. Complete your look with a pair of heels you’re comfortable in. During the winter, a pair of ankle boots are a good idea.

2) Sweater dress + boots

If your blind date is taking place during the colder months, you don’t want to forego staying warm for being stylish. You can achieve a chic yet warm look by opting for a sweater dress. If your dress is above your knees, I recommend adding a pair of black tights or leggings for some extra warmth.

If your sweater dress is shorter, you could wear a pair of knee-high boots in a neutral color. Add a black leather jacket to complete this sleek chic look. If you really want to take things up a notch, add a pair of statement earrings to your sweater dress. A pair of strappy heels could be worn if it’s not too cold outside.

3) Blouse and midi skirt

Here is a great way to show up for a romantic date where you’re meeting for the first time. You don’t have to show too much skin when you’re meeting a complete stranger, unless that’s what you’re comfortable with. Make a great impression by showing your feminine side without doing too much. A midi pleated skirt is one of the most flattering skirts out there.

It hides any belly fat you may be uncomfortable with while keeping you looking stylish. Pairing it with a simple blouse makes for the perfect first date outfit if you’re headed to a nice restaurant. This is also an outfit you could wear to the office and then head straight to your dinner date in. Complete your look with a pair of ballet flats or high heels, depending on your level of comfort.

4) Midi dress

Midi dresses are a good choice if you know you’re headed for a fancy dinner date. They’re long enough to not expose too much skin while being short enough to easily move in. During the warmer months, choose a midi dress with short sleeves and in a fun color or bold print. This is a great way to show your date some of your personality. This could be a casual dress such as a summer dress or a formal one such as a cocktail dress.

During the colder months, a midi dress in a solid color is a great choice if you’re headed for a romantic date. Feel free to add a skinny belt on top to cinch in your waist. Dresses in dark colors are also more flattering if you’re insecure about your belly area. It’s important to feel comfortable while trying to make a good impression. Choose a pair of black pumps or heeled sandals for footwear to take this look a step higher.

5) Shirt dress + leggings

Are you casually meeting up in person with someone you met on an online dating site? A shirt dress is a great choice, especially if this is a day date. It’s the perfect blend of casual and slightly dressy. You can add a skinny belt to accentuate your waist and make your look dressier.

If you want to show your fashion-forward side, choose a shirt dress in a fun print. If your dress is short, add a pair of leggings or leather pants underneath. This is also a good idea if you’re meeting for an evening date.

If you think you may be out the entire night, add a light jacket or a denim jacket to your outfit. A pair of tall boots work well with leggings during the winter months. During the summer, a pair of flat sandals or wedges are a good look to complete your date outfit.

6) Shorts and a simple top

If you know you’re meeting your blind date in a very casual place such as an ice cream parlour, a simple outfit is the best way to show up. The worst thing you want to do is show up overdresses. This is the perfect opportunity to pull out your favorite cute top and shorts. Avoid short shorts and go for a pair that are at least mid thigh in length. These could be denim shorts, cargo shorts or any other fabric.

If you’re okay showing a little bit of skin, you could opt for a longer crop top. High-waisted shorts are more flattering and so if you’re curvy or want to make your waist look smaller, choose a pair of high-waist shorts. The best part about this outfit is that you can wear a pair of white sneakers to complete your casual look. You could also opt for a pair of sandals and you would have yourself a great outfit.

7) A little black dress

If you know you’re headed somewhere even slightly fancy, but you’ unsure of the dress code, a little black dress is a the perfect choice. You can style it in so many different ways, depending on where you’re headed.

For a less formal look, try adding a kimono on top of your dress and pairing it with a pair of flats. For a more formal look, choose a shrug to add some sophistication to your outfit.

Create an elegant look for a Saturday night date by throwing on a pair of heels and some fun accessories to your LBD.
