In today’s blog post, I would be going over the best ways to style a pleated skirt using items you most likely already own. You would see how easy it is to come up with chic pleated skirt outfits.

i) Shein
Shein offers one of the largest selections of pleated skirts out there. They carry them in mini, midi and maxi lengths as well as different prints, colors and types of plates. Regardless of your body type, you’re bound to find something.
I especially love their pleated mini skirts like THIS short white skirt which would cute during the summer season paired with a crop top or tank and top a pair of sneakers. This is a casual look you could pull off on a hot day. You could also pair mini skirt with a pair of heels for date night.
ii) Amazon
Amazon has steadily been making a name for themselves when it comes to affordable fashion. Their selection of pleated skirt may be fewer than Shein but the do offer few skirts in more color variations. This pleated midi skirt would be easy to pair with a blouse or simple t-shirt for different occasions.
iii) Lulus
Lulus is always a website to check out when you’re looking for trendy pieces. With most of their items under $80, you’re bound to find a cute dress or skirt to your liking. They also carry a small range of pleated skirts in some great colors. This knee-length pleated skirt features accordion pleats. It’s the type of skirt you wear to a holiday party as well as brunch on a weekend in the Fall.
iv) Nordstrom
Nordstrom offers fewer options of pleated skirts on their site. Pleated skirts in a midi length seem to be the most popular option out there. They’re also the most versatile as you can dress them up or down, depending on the occasion. Instead of the typical accordion pleats, try out a mini skirt with knife pleats such as THIS ONE.
v) Chicwish
Chicwish always comes through with the trendy yet classy pieces. They are less affordable than Sheing but the quality is much better. They have some great options for pleated skirts in beautiful floral prints as well as others in solid colors. THIS floral maxi skirt would be a great way to brighten up your Spring wardrobe.
Now that you have a good idea of where to shop for pleated skirt, let’s talk about the different ways to style them. The good news is, they cam be worn across different seasons if style accordingly. If you don’t already own a pleated skirt, I would recommend starting with a midi skirt in a neutral color.
How to style a pleated skirt
1) With a blouse
The best way to style a pleated skirt for more formal events is to pair it with a long-sleeved blouse. You can create a chic monochrome look by choosing a blouse in the same color as your skirt. If you’re unsure about which color to go with, opt for a white blouse. Pleated midi skirts are my preferred skirt length to pull off this look with.

Adda pair of heels to your skirt look to really elevate it. Open-toe heels are a great option. If you’re headed to the office, a pair of ballet flats work fine. Feel free to throw on a structures blazer to make your outfit even more professional.
2) With a sweater
During the colder months, use your pleated skirts as transitional pieces. Pair them with different sweaters and boots to create chic looks. For a more casual look, try pairing a pleated skirt with an oversized sweater. You could wear this outfit to class, church or even to work. Opt for a long skirt during the winter months.

Create a classic look with your pleated skirt by pairing it with a white shirt. A v-neck shirt would be the most flattering style of t-shirt, bringing some attention to your decolletage. One of my favorite ways to style a shorter pleated skirt is by pairing it with a white t-shirt and a white pair of sneakers.

If you’re headed to a casual event, try throwing on a graphic tee as well as a denim jacket. A mini leather skirt and a pair of combat boots would create an edgy look bound to turn heads.

Nothing says summer chic like a skirt paired with a cute crop top. It’s the best option to go with if you’re putting together a really casual look. Create a cute and flirty look by pairing a mini pleated skirt with a cropped top in a bright color.
